Whitby Gagaticeras MultiBlock – Unprepped Jurassic Fossil – Yorkshire Coast

This natural fossil multiblock was collected from the Lower Lias around Whitby on the Yorkshire Coast. These Jurassic rocks formed around 200 million years ago and can contain a fascinating variety of marine fossils.

This specimen already has at least 3 large Gagaticeras ammonites visible on the surface, with the surrounding matrix potentially containing further Gagaticeras and Oxynoticeras ammonites, as well as bivalves, shells and gastropods.

This specimen is ideal for collectors and fossil preparators who enjoy carefully preparing larger natural blocks and revealing the fossils contained within the surrounding rock.

The block is best prepared using an air pen, with the finished specimen likely to benefit from air abrasion. Iron powder is recommended for the air abrasion media.

Please note: This is an unprepared natural fossil multiblock. Although three large Gagaticeras ammonites are already visible on the surface, any additional fossils within the matrix are not guaranteed and their condition, completeness and preservation can only be determined during preparation.
