This Dactylioceras tenuicostatum ammonite fossil is preserved as a beautiful positive and negative split pair, revealing both sides of the fossil. The specimen was discovered on the Yorkshire Coast near Whitby, one of the most famous Jurassic fossil locations in the UK.
Dating back around 180 million years to the Early Jurassic, Dactylioceras ammonites are among the most recognisable fossils from the Whitby area. This perfectly split nodule makes an excellent display fossil and a classic example of a Whitby ammonite from the Yorkshire Coast.
