Couldn't load pickup availability
This traditional Whitby Snake Stone is a genuine Dactylioceras semicelatum ammonite fossil discovered on the famous Yorkshire Coast near Whitby. The ammonite has been carved with a snake head, following a historic Whitby tradition associated with the legend of St Hilda, who is said to have turned snakes into stone.
Dating back around 180 million years to the Early Jurassic period, these ammonites are among the most recognisable fossils found along the Yorkshire shoreline. Snake Stones are unique collector pieces that combine natural Jurassic fossils with Whitby’s local folklore and carving tradition.
