Belemnite Battlefield Fossil – Rare Jurassic Belemnites – Whitby Yorkshire Coast

This impressive belemnite battlefield fossil contains numerous Jurassic belemnites preserved together in the surrounding rock. The specimen was discovered on the famous Yorkshire Coast near Whitby, one of the most important Jurassic fossil locations in the United Kingdom.

Dating back around 180 million years, belemnites were squid-like marine animals that lived in the Jurassic seas. Specimens with multiple belemnites preserved together are rare and highly collectible, making this an excellent display fossil from the Jurassic of the Yorkshire Coast.

For stability, the reverse of the specimen has been secured with several coats of Paraloid, a conservation-grade stabiliser commonly used in fossil preparation.
