Large Whitby Ammonite Nodule – Grey Shale Fossil
This large grey shale nodule was collected from the beaches near Whitby on the Yorkshire Coast, one of the most famous Jurassic fossil locations in the UK.
Each nodule is guaranteed to contain an ammonite fossil inside, most commonly species such as Dactylioceras tenuicostatum or Dactylioceras semicelatum. These fossils lived approximately 180 million years ago during the Jurassic period.
The nodule can be opened by carefully splitting it with a hammer and chisel or prepared using fossil preparation tools such as air scribes. Preparing your own ammonite fossil is a rewarding experience and makes this specimen perfect for collectors, beginners, and fossil enthusiasts.
